词源（Etymology）：Named after German cactus enthusiast Pierre Braun.
This genus was created as recently as 1997 to include two species: P. bahiensis and P. brauniorum. The former is listed here under Arrojadoa while the later has no synonyms. The species P. brauniorum is suspected by some to be an intergeneric hybrid involving Pilosocereus.
Plants are ribbed, short columns which produce bright-pink tube-shaped flowers near the stem tips. An endemic of Brazil, these plants are found in limited populations in the wild.
